At the request of students, Rinpoche has kindly agreed to give teachings on Uttaratantra. The teachings will begin in July at the completion of Rinpoche’s current teachings of Nagarjuna’s “Letter to a friend”
Uttaratantra is one of the foundation texts of Buddhist philosophy. Texts may generally be classified as falling within one of Buddha's three turnings of the wheel of dharma. The Uttaratantra is considered as part of the third turning which elucidates Buddha's teaching that Buddha-nature is inherent in all beings and they have the potential to realize their Buddha nature.
This lack of awareness of one's core Buddha nature leads us to cultivate and maintain a misperception of reality thereby concealing our own Buddha nature from us. Trapped in this cycle, we continue to create karma and cannot purify ourselves or recognise our innate Buddha nature.
The study and contemplation of the Uttaratantra texts is intended to uproot all defilements and allow our true nature to arise unimpeded.
